Dress Rehearsals1. Were you prepared for the dress rehearsal? Did you have your costumes, props, sets, lines memorized, character(s) developed, scenes developed? Me and my group were prepared and had everything ready for the rehearsals. Everybody wore their costumes, had (most of) their lines memorized and we had all the props PREPARED behind the stage, just the person who was in charge of putting the props on the stage was sick and so nobody put the props on the stage. 2. What could you improve for your final performances on Wednesday 1 February? What we should improve for the final performance is to make sure the people behind the stage know exactly when to put the props. Also everybody has to concentrate a bit more and be more serious in their character so the play is more dramatic. 3. Did your dramatic piece represent your case study appropriately? How? Provide examples? I think our play is a good representation of the Lebanese Civil War, because in our play we have a lot of information included about the war, which countries got involved and we showed a brief idea of what the fighting was like. So if someone who doesn't know anything about the Lebanese War watches our play, they will definitely know the most important facts and how the war was like afterwards. 4. Did you enjoy working on this IDU Peace and Conflict unit and creating and performing your dramatic pieces I think it was a lot of fun but also a lot of work and stress to work on our drama pieces. Coming up with an idea, then making it into a play, writing a script, finding all the actors, teaching people how to play their characters, creating all the props and planning out every single detail to make the play perfect truly was a lot of work and took a lot of school but also free time. In general I enjoyed working on the IDU but I'm still happy that we have now done it and we're over with it because I can now concentrate on other things for school again and not just the IDU. But I'm still very happy what Hermine and I have achieved and that the play turned out to be a great success. Final PerformanceOn Wednesday we then had our final IDU performance. The play went really good and everything went like we planned it to and it was probably better than any of the practices we did, because everybody was concentrating on their character and so no mistakes happened like in the dress rehearsals. Although I think that next time it would be better to practice the play in the Atrium more than one time, so everything would be planned out better. But the play still went very well and I'm very proud of what Hermine and I have achieved.

Warm-UpWe started this weeks lesson with 2 group exercises. The first one was that we were all standing in a circle and Gosia would count down from 3 and then we had to either imitate a tiger, an alien or a cow. The aim of this exercise was that after a few turns we all turned out to imitate the same animal without talking to each other. The other exercise was a game where one person had to be the detective and find out who of the people in the circle was the murderer. The murderer had to wink at random people in the circle and when he did, the person would die. The aim of this exercise was for the murderer to wink at people secretly so no one would see him and for the detective to find out who the murderer is. Process of my playThis week it was all about practicing our play. During Tuesdays lesson Hermine and I made sure we memorised all our lines and had the whole script planned out. Then we finished making the last props and got the flags we needed from Yoke. Every lunch break we practiced the play with all the actors and props so we will be ready for our final performance next week. All we're left to do now is: - bring a newspaper and glue the article on it - bring all the costumes and brown face powder for TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY - practice 1-2 more times with ALL the actors and ALL the props FINAL Script
Process of my playIn the lesson on Tuesday Hermine and I first went through the whole play together and made sure there were no mistakes or complications. We also let Gosia watch our play and got some feedback from her which we included or changed in our script: - say at the beginning that the journalists are recording for "The way we see it" - speak slowly - shorten the article at the end Then we started finding all the props for our play and making the costumes. For the props we printed out pictures of guns, cameras and other weapons and then glued them onto cardboard and cut them out. Costumes
We corrected all the technical needs lists and made some small changes: Reflection of my processOur play is slowly but definitely coming together. We have finished the script, found all our actors, made all costumes and props and already started to memorise our lines. We practiced the play with all the characters twice already during lunch and we will continue practicing as much as we can. Hermine, I and all the other actors which have lines in the play now just need to memorise all their lines so we can perform our final performance next week. But the rehearsals are going well and I think if we work hard the next days, we will make the play a very good one.
How we could improve our play: - every character speak loud and slowly - really get into the character (don't laugh or break) - print a script for everyone so we can move on quicker and so everybody knows what to say and do when Warm- UpWe started Tuesdays lesson with a little warm-up. Because the last 3 weeks were the christmas holidays, we all did a small monologue about what we did and how our holiday has been. I just talked about christmas and our trip to Berlin Process of my playOver the holidays Hermine and I finished the script so we will now have enough time to practice and find all the extra people and props we need for our play. These are all the people in our play: Actors Hermine: Charlie Glass Clara: Scarlett Johnson Ferdinand: Camera man India: Random Christian, Holding Flag: Israel Elme: Christian (who's getting interviewed) , Holding Flag: Syria Edda: Muslim (who's getting interviewed), Holding Flag: France + Pianist Khalil: Malek, Holding Flag: Italy, Newspaper man Theis: Christian walking in, the Christian fighter, Bodyguard 1 Aba: Christian walking in, the Muslim fighter, Bodyguard 2 Baaba: Muslim walking in, Holding Flag: Britain Roos: Muslim walking in, Holding Flag: America These are all the props that we will need in our play: Props
